occ Rounds will end the Sunday of each week, you have 1 week to post your characters here. If you do not post each week, it will be considered that your wolf disobeyed orders and was sent back to Refuge Point.

the heathen bitch's paws dug into the soft flesh of the river's epidermal layers of dirt and grime as her tail flickered behind her with an arrogant and yet annoyed flicker. ears were pressed to the back of her crested skull, the cranium hardened by many months of falling on it as a child -- those back flips were not as easy as she had originally thought. however, the times in the journey that she was allowed to, her light and tea cup paws were a gossamer kiss upon the flat heads of stones, leaping from side to side to keep both her agility and speed up for the lengthening time that it was taking them to get there. her orders and words were clear in her eardrums, the lethal captain's words filtering through her mind like a record player to the tune, his voice playing through her membrane as she filled her mind with such things, to keep her on task. the whispering of the winds that surrounded her made the girl's fur twitch and edge. she was keeping a strict pace, one that the others might not be able to follow her, thus she would pause at every corner, every turn to make sure that no one was being left behind. her paws would wait, gossamer against the ground as she waited for them. each would be accompanied with a snap of her jaws at them, but not directly in their face, with brisk words of encouragement. her slithering and hiss vowels constant as her tongue dragged across the roof of her mouth. while encouraging, they were often hinted with tones that they could be farther ahead and not to lag unless they wanted something to eat them. the cipher's eyes were always looking through the tops of the trees, detailing their size and shape and compartmentalizing them within the gentle curves of her membrane. everything was of vital and knowing nature, nothing was placed or pushed aside from the insects to the texture of the bark of the trees. his tail was in constant motion as she walked, flickering from back and forth with a twisted and snapping motion at the end after a gentle curve. it's hairs pulled from side to side as the wind twisted within the knots and snarls. her nose was pressed to the skies, ebony appendage sniffing the scents that she could as they traversed the new landscapes.

the majority of the journey was not that eventful, the constant slander of those that traveled as a group when leaving the region that was known as home was quarrelsome to say the least. the three recon leaders were the ones in charge, the higher ranking members taking up the brunt of the other's simplistic follies at the hands of the lesser knowns. each was assigned a task, a choir, in relation to their main objective as they moved through and over the regions. at times they left each other, splitting off into three main groups depending upon which way they were told to go. the departure was quick brief but everyone had the same orders -- return home within the thirty rises and falls of the sun into the air. the heat was painful, however, the rains that prevailed at the end were the worst. many of them would agree that it would be easier and more pleasant in the sunlight than in this dreadful weather that slathered their very fur to their bodies. disgust was molded over every one of their features and the facade was slowly creeping itself back into their minds. valkyrie's patience was wearing thin; her body was slowly expressing her fatigue as they traveled. but surely, they were making progress as they moved through the landscape. her tail flickered behind her though, as the female was brought back to the beginning of our little story, sloshing through the water's creek like river. her head twisting backwards as she suddenly pauses, the warm waters starting to slowly bubble beneath her feet as her eyes blinked with a soft and rather slow progression across the members of her group, the settled group of entirely zetas like herself and the one subordinate. they were not the easiest of groups but there was always room for improvement. keep sharp, defenses keen! she called out, her commands brisk and to the point. vertad left, shasta right, roxana rear, came the vibrations as her voice once again shook the air around them. the river was a smooth and slick surface to tread upon, their tracks null and vacant while their scents were caught in a vortex of absolution and nothing as well. they were ghosts in this land and for once, valkyrie was glad that there was no body around, no body to bother her that is.

her eyes skimmed over all of them, waiting for the group to collaterally gather around her, she was facing them, south as it had been a few hundred tree lengths ( aka about .5 kilometers per tree length ) and there noticeable warming in the waters. while they were going north, this concerned the bear hued female for some reason, something just did not feel right. her eyes cast over the group, wondering if those same thoughts were driving through each of their own brains. she waited until they were all gathered, a circle of comrades together in an attempt to further their knowledge. her tail was still in constant motion, filing and remembering everything that she had just seen and heard as they were walking. there still didn't seem to be anyone here, nothing but random and approved shit that they already knew. some herbs were located here, dusted with their own properties and all that other jazz. there were some nice terrain for packs, however. she noticed that without anyone else in the area, mortus sero would be able to double their numbers and train efficiently for awhile before anyone knew that they were still alive, able to rape and pillage those that were still located in the pale harbor of the point. perhaps they would keep a few informants there, to follow the workings of the pack within the point. the viperous female smiled with silent glee, she would have to talk to torvald about such a thing. she was almost certain that the two would be enthused to hear of such a thing. to completely screw over those that were located in the tiny niches of hell that was their own home. by then, however, the vibrations in both the water and the air from the constant foot falls had fallen silent. her opened emerald pools settling upon each of their faces. does anyone else feel the water growing warmer as we go along? she asked, her eyes scanning over the group and waiting to see if they had any answers. she would put her own input once the gathering had spoken their minds, taking in their reasoning and ideas as well as filing in her own. it seems that we need to explore this area more, look to see what we can find in the area, she continued when the other three finally fell silent. however, splitting up is not an option. we still haven't found any sign of predatory animals and i can only feel them watching us. we will have to stay close together, thus which direction should we go? left, right or forward? she would put it up for a vote, they would continue whichever way that the majority of the group believed in. she was the tie breaker if each voted for a different direction, but that was the only say that she got. her eyes swept over them landing in a specific order -- vertad, shasta, roxana -- and waiting until they gave her their answer. ( well then, which way shall we go my darlings? )speech.

Onward the soldiers marched, proudly bearing their brands. Their weapons were gleaming in the sunlight, fangs glinting brilliant white. She flanked on the right of Valkyrie, their reconnaissance mission leader. Vertad was on the left, with a girl named Roxana bringing up the rear. They moved as a single unit, marching in rhythm with one another into this vastly unknown land. The water churned beneath their paws, and they moved on in silence except for the calls of Valkyrie. The water was eerie here, bubbling with warmth, and growing warmer as they moved on. Shasta cast a wary glance toward Vertad and then turned her face forward once more. Her mind wandered, but she tried her best to think mostly about the task ahead. They were to explore this area and determine the different terrains, foliage, prey, threats, and resources. So far she saw mostly terrain details, though she was sure they'd need to find prey soon enough.

The thought sent her stomach to lurching, but it ceased as Valkyrie's call rang out loud and clear. She voiced the thought that Shasta had previously wondered about, and a sharp nod was given to her leader. "It's as if there's some source of underground heat up ahead.. perhaps a volcano?" She'd been told about those things before. Large, vast mountains which spewed fire from time to time, sending everything around them ablaze in a fiery inferno. A slight fear shone in her eyes for but a moment, before she shrugged away the idea. Surely there were no volcanoes around here... right? The next question rang from Valkyrie and Shasta kept her mouth shut. She wasn't particular on which direction they went, so long as they stayed together like Valkyrie had said. It would be foolish to depart from one another, particularly if there were indeed predators watching nearby. The very thought sent her guard hairs upward slowly.

Her lip curled slightly as her ears laid far forward, twitching with any small sound not created by the party. Eyes glanced once more toward Vertad to see if he might have a suggestion, and finally moved to Roxana. The marble coated girl waited to see what the others would say, and to decide which direction they would go. Any one of them, left, right, or forward, would no doubt lead to something promising, but what if one was better than the other?

"blah blah blah speech."

WIP
He hadn't quite expected this when he volunteered for the Recon mission. He loved his pack dearly, of course, and wanted to help. He definitely needed the assistance with rank and duty tiers; he was quite sick of being merely a Ruffian. And he was in the same group as Shasta. So of course he was glad to be on this mission, it was just ... different. He hadn't expected to be wading through a creek--a warm one at that; how odd--with three other females. Really, he wondered if it would've been so damn hard for Torvald to put him with at least one other male ... It wasn't that it annoyed him, he was just uncomfortable. Understandably uncomfortable, of course! After all, who would be comfortable in this situation? What male, at any rate.

The streaked boy was pullled from his thoughts by the first female--Valkyrie, it was?--barking orders. He followed obediently, wading to the side he was instructed to. He shifted to the left of the black woman and kept his ears flicked outward. Shasta was on the girl's right, and he trusted his mate's senses. He had nothing to worry about on that side of him, he was to focus on his left. After another few moments of aimless wading, he allowed his orbs to wander. His ears kept perked, just in case, but they were there to observe. And so, his vision searched the area. It was quite beautiful, he thought, especially compared to their home turf. The greys of the forest had their qualities, of course--especially for a boy like him, who blended with them perfectly--and even the lake had it's moments, but they were plain. There was no problem with plain, of course. He liked his life there. But times like this, with all of the colours of the river's foliage assaulting his senses, he wondered if there were better places.

The water warmed, and he wondered whether it was just his own body heating. But the temperature rose more than he knew it should, and it intrigued him. He'd been (shameful as it was) in the lake before, more than once even. A stumble, a trip, and he was head-first in the cool water. But this water was warmer, and he'd be lying if he didn't say it intrigued him. His eyes shifted over to the white female on the other side of their group's leader--he was thrilled that they were placed together. But quickly enough they were back on the edges, watching again for any changes that appeared.

His ears perked forward as Valkyrie called out comments, and he remained silent until she asked their opinion. He waited to see if others would speak before his own voice called out; "I think we should go forward, personally. I'm curious to see what's causing the warmth in the water." He shut up as soon as the statement was finished and shuffled on his feet slightly, waiting for the group's response.

"Feel the silence."

There was a deathly silence behind her if only for a matter of moments, the precarious amount of those that lined themselves behind her were short one. Roxana had decided not to stay it would seem and thus wandered off, hopefully back to the biting jaws of Torvald. There was no reason for such treachery, for such insubordination. If she did not like her leader, well then perhaps she should have spoken up before the groups were split apart. Nevertheless, the Cipher looked upon the two companions that were still locked behind her with a serpentine gaze to hold them both towards it. Her head nodded as the female spoke, her words slithering across her eardrums with a flickering bang to end the conversation. The idea of a volcano was both foreign and yet entirely too enticing to not think of properly. Her tail flickered behind her with a smooth and diabolical movement as her head look ahead towards where they were going. Her ebony nose was twisted to the skies, the scars of old twisting along the side of her face with a brash brutality. The soft hissing of a snake was heard upon the ground however. Immediately, the girl thought it was nothing more than a woodland creature coming to investigate but it was sure as day the brightly hued and albino snake that she had come to cherish above all else. Her lips pursed as the serpentine form slithered through the water and twisted along her leg. The fae was small compared to the snakes in which she had seen previous but perhaps it was because her little girl was just too young. It's white form was a starch contrast to the hues of butter, beer, grain and raven that dotted her pelt. The slithering serpent wound its way up the siren's leg and twisted lightly in an expanse around her neck where there it hung. It's head raised up, flickering tongue caressing the soft skin of her inner ear with a delicate hiss. It's warning was clear and for once, the viperous female was not going to question it. We need to get up on the banks, Elvira says that there are crocodiles up ahead, her lips pursed as her long and willowy legs brought her upon the shoreline. Her head was not far from the two that followed her however. Her eyes locked upon the gentle bodies as the two mates fumbled themselves hopefully upon the shore after her. That would not be something she actually wanted to explain to Torvald. ( Oh you know, they didn't want to listen to me and got eaten by a crocodile. ) A smooth snicker came from her lips as it was quickly silenced by her peers own words. Her head nodded in agreement with the only brute in her party. It would indeed be interesting to see a volcano I suppose, but I do agree, she calmly continued. We need to find out what is causing the issue with the warm water. Her eyes twisted as she looked over the expressed fields that surrounded them. Surely there was something here that was of importance, of delicate grace in which the female was likely to contain something of use. In the mean time as we walk, keep a look out for any herbs that might be useful and prey that could be around here, she spoke through pursed lips, her tongue rapping against the ceiling of her mouth. Tail flickering behind her and snake donning her neck, the Cipher continued her walk forward, keeping her own eye out for any herbs that seemed familiar to her. A last, currently, there was none but there was still much to explore in the area. speech.

ooc; I take it Roxana wont be joining us?

table by noki

Ruby eyes rolled from wolf to wolf, noting that the presence of one was no longer as clear as before. Cranium swung around, but no sign of Roxana was near. Perhaps she had abandoned the mission and returned to the Point. Shasta's brow furrowed, surely she'd have said something, right? Still, their quartet was a healthy trio, and they would press on despite the loss of a member. Shasta cast a puzzled glance in Vertad's direction, but listened as he spoke, wanting to know the source of the warming water. Blood-hued eyes took in the sight of the serpent snaking it's way up the leader's leg and dangling about her neck. Shasta had always been rather fond of snakes, but as she'd been granted a bird companion, she hadn't complained much. Valkyrie's words cut through the air like a knife, and Shasta did not hesitate, tongue flashing across her lips as she slipped carefully out of the water behind her leader, hoping Vertad was coming as well.

The descry shook lightly, ridding her pelt of any water that had been clinging to it's surface before turning directly to Valkyrie to hear her next command. Yes indeed a volcano would be interesting, and Shasta was sure they would see it, for what else could be warming the water in such a way? A flutter of wings was heard as a great bird alighted on her shoulders, painted red like her eyes, with a condescending glare. He'd never been the most friendly of creatures, but he was fair enough to Shasta. As he settled between her shoulderblades, his beak sifted lovingly through her white fur on the top of her head as Valkyrie spoke. Shasta nodded, tossing her head back and letting out a small 'whuff' to the bird, who quickly removed himself from her shoulders and flew ahead of the party. "I'll keep a sharp eye out. I thought I saw some euphrasia on the embankment up ahead while we were in the water, Shak is going to investigate." With a sharp nod to notate the end of her speech, she lovingly brushed against Vertad before coming to stand on the right of Valkyrie, in the same position as before. Soon, they would march.

Gah, short, sorry. >-<
The streaked male turned slightly, ears flicking backward as he noted the disappearance of a member of the group. But, no matter, really. The two that remained were good enough for him, and he was sure they'd be well enough for Torvald. Although, a glance at the swiftly darkening sky suggested she had the right idea in making her leave. The winds were picking up, as well, which was a bad sign. Even as he moved, they sped up more and more quickly, until he wasn't sure he could see two feet in front of him.

Winds battered the streaked boy, and he responded with a clarity he didn't know he had; completely bypassing Valkyrie--something he knew he'd probably regret--he pressed himself against his mate and pushed them both towards the edge of the water. "Shasta, Shasta are you alright?" he panted out as they reached the shelter of the trees. Blue orbs locked onto her sturdily, scanning the ivory girl for any injuries with a worry only he could hold.

"Feel the silence."

occ Sorry for not posting guys! After these next few posts, we should be good for the ten post count and then we can move these guys back home to report to Torvald! < 3

The sudden screeching of a banshee set the ears upon her delicate crown with a force much less than gossamer. Her legs bent slightly to lower herself from the impending winds as the fists battered and bashed herself against the finely tuned beer hued pelt. Her lips twisted, the ashen tendrils set in a rather firm but able bodied growl as the snake around her neck was tightly wound. She could do nothing for Elvira but hope that she would cling to her tightly, and it was more than obvious her serpentine friend was anything but happy about what was occuring around them. Tea cup paws pressed into the earth as she watched the haunting form of Vertad pressed against his mate, Shasta, who had sent her companion to the skies. Recall Shak Shasta! she managed to yell across the ground with a lifted snarl. Her tail flickered behind her as it twisted itself to keep within the small confines of her body. The gentle curves moving as she slowly began to make her way to the now three wolf group. Tail twisted behind her as the bear hued female brought herself closer to the two. We need to get back into the river, but we must find cover! The words were hissed from serpentine lips, the viperous female already feeling the effects of the tropical storm as it bared down upon her. Her eyes scanned the area, taking down notes about the slightest of changes within the broken and quarreled area. The storm was not as strong as it might have been, but the winds were sure enough to cause many problems -- even uprooted trees. She felt her paws hit the water, splashing down the embankment to stumble if only for a moment. The grace and agility that she would display would not be hindered by a simple trip, hopefully. Her ears were still pressed against her ears, tightly locking themselves against the cranium as her ebony lips continued to curl. They needed to find shelter and fast before the winds swept them away. If you see a den alongside of the river, get inside of it, she barked to her companions, obvious fear laced between each damning syllable. Her tail twisted in the air before settling back down, narrowed eyes upon the embankment. If we don't find cover, we are dead. The words rang from her parted lips with dire honesty. Tail flickering behind her, the tea kettle female began to slowly walk away from the storm and towards the clear skies, in hopes that shelter would not be far off. However, she would only move when she knew that Shasta and Vertad were behind her. Never leave a wolf behind. speech.

In an instant she knew something was wrong. Ruby eyes shot to the skies, noting the darkening clouds. They swirled with malicious intent. Valkyrie's words came only seconds before action as the white wolf let out a soft 'whuff', something similar to a mother recalling a pup. The bird did an aerial spin and returned to her, showing the discontent on his face with the current situation. Shak hated storms. Shasta herself loved them, but knew this one was not to be contended with. The warm pressing of Vertad on her side refreshened her mind that she indeed was not alone, and together they could get through this. The wind fingered roughly through her fur, causing her ears to lay back in alarm. They needed shelter. Almost immediately Valkyrie was commanding once more, stating that they needed to get into the river and find shelter. Yes, the river would be the safest place, provided it didn't get struck by lightning at any point. In that case, they would be in serious trouble. Shasta let out a growl, warning the bird fluttering madly above her that he too should seek shelter with them.

She was right on Valkyrie's heels the entire time, skidding down the embankment until her white forepaws felt the familiar warmth of the water. Eyes scanned to each bank of the rio, in desperate search of a den or cavern for the trio to climb into. If they had to, they could excavate a small one into a large enough space, but to create one from scratch would take far too long. The wind continued to howl, battering her back and forth, it took most of her strength just to stand firmly in the water. "Valkyrie, Vertad, this way!" Her eyes had locked onto a den just up ahead and to her right. It would be a tight squeeze, but they could dig a bit more out if necessary. She took the lead, charging ahead of Valkyrie and Vertad. Flying debris swirled in the atmosphere around them, a particularly rapid-flying piece struck her on her scarred flank. It stung profusely and she let out a yelp of pain before staggering into the opening in the bank, hoping Valkyrie and Vertad were coming along. She limped painfully into the back of the crevice and flopped down, scarred flank still searing with pain, and trickling sufficient amounts of blood. Shasta took to licking it in hopes that it would clot over soon.

He left Shasta's side as they ran, falling back slightly behind her. Blue orbs slid wildly over her head and around her, watching for anything that could've harmed the she-wolf. Selfish of him as it was, he couldn't bring himself to keep such an eye for the ebony woman when his own was in danger. He wasn't sure how he'd survive without the white and charcoal girl. But, sadly enough, he wasn't quite as dependent on their current leader's survival. He'd fight with her, of course, and for her, but if it was ever the choice between saving her or saving Shasta ... he preferred not to think of it.

Her voice rang out and he followed it, pausing to let Valkyrie in before himself, but diving after her as soon as she was through. He grunted slightly, but quickly began the work of shoving out dirt and bits of tree and plant that took up more space than they needed. He clawed at the walls and then pushed the mud out, trying to create a good bit of breathing room for the three of them. He silently thanked the missing girl that she'd disappeared; there was no way they'd've been able to fit her in as well. "Is-is everyone alright? Shasta, are you okay?" He chocked out her name, pausing in his clearing to listen for their responses, though he couldn't say there wasn't one he'd've preferred to hear more than another ...

"Feel the silence."

The ashen faced woman turned as the calling of Shasta, the finding of cover to say the very least. The resounding cacophony of the winds against her membrane was anything but fun to say the very least as wide paws thrummed against the ground and reverberated with a resounding snap. Her ears twisted to her head as the branch from the near trees crashed to the ground once more. However, she would not be so lucky with the other debris that was flying around. A resounding smack could be heard as a rather weighted branch struck the woman offside of the head, the broken and grounded pieces spinning with the wind in the opposite direction. A throbbing could be felt in her head but for once, the heathen bitch could careless about the thrumming upon the inside of her head and more about the ability to live. The flying debris covered the entire area and for once, the hellish female brought fear back into her system as a humming reminder. Her paws brought her towards the den in which Shasta had found, her tendons strained in almost every single joint possible and a rather interesting weight upon her head where the branch had struck her. Blood pooled and welled in the crevices that had been created by the striking of the branch. Her tongue could not reach the area but thankfully, the albino snake in which she cared for so much was able to. She pressed her weighted body upon the wound, hopefully to connect with it and clot it before it filtered down into her single emerald pool. Her ears twisted on the top of her head however as Vertad asked about Shasta's safety, her nose picking up the scent of blood that was indeed not her own. Eyes rose slightly as she looked towards the woman, "Best get some cobwebs into that with some soothing aloe to keep the burn off and anything from infecting it. But we won't be able to get the latter until the storm passes so clean it and put some of the webs from the corner into it. Be sure to keep it clean, we'll be here for a little while." The words, while not harsh, held some sort of annoyance upon her brain. "I cannot sleep while I believe that I have a concussion, I'll stand as watch for now, you two get some rest," was the last soothing command that she gave to her followers. With two injured, they would be returning to the warlord with little information but their lives at the very least.
