Rio de Fuego Commonly referred to as the "river of fire", this river surrounds El Burbujeo and acts as the entryway into the swamp. There is no particular reason for the name of this river, other than a potential warning to the dangers that lie within the swamp it holds within. The river is bordered by porous rocks and overhanging vegetation. |

La Oscuridad Natives refer to the inner swamp as "the darkness", but the name they have given this place is far from arbitrary. A truly haunting and frightening place, light barely reaches the swamp during the day, and the muddy waters are so dark that less than an inch beneath the surface the water swirls murky and misty. Animals of all sizes lurk beyond what the eye can see, waiting for an unsuspecting visitor. |

The Screaming Pond In the western portion of the swamp, a heated cell lies beneath the swamp that causes a perpetually steaming geyser surrounded by rocks and mud. The water is so hot and saline that if one were to dip their body into the water, death would be upon them in seconds. Streams of hot gases are constantly exploding from its surface, hence the pond's horrific christening. |
